Water Injection Virtual Assessment Methodology
Water Injection is a technology with great potential for knock mitigation and fuel-efficiency increase in turbocharged spark-ignition engines. PWT, in collaboration with e3 – Engines Energy Environment | Research Group of Politecnico di Torino and Università degli Studi di Perugia, developed and validated a simplified 3D-CFD methodology w/ innovative indexes that can be used to assess knock mitigation and oil dilution risk of a water injection system. This streamlined and highly effective approach can be used from the early stages of engine design and optimization.
