Ducted Fuel Injection: Experimental and Numerical Investigation

The Ducted Fuel Injection (DFI) concept is a technology aiming at increasing flame lift-off-length, enhance mixing in the autoignition zone and thus reduce soot formation in Diesel engines.
PWT has partnered with PUNCH Torino, e3 – Engines Energy Environment | Research Group of Politecnico di Torino and Università degli Studi di Perugia to investigate DFI by means of experimental tests and 3D-CFD simulations. Results show improved air entrainment and impressive soot reduction potential for engine-like conditions.
