Numerical Investigation of Innovative Piston Bowl Geometries
Piston bowl optimization via 3D-CFD can help achieve a cleaner and increasingly efficient combustion in Diesel engines. PWT has worked with PUNCH Torino and e3 – Engines Energy Environment | Research Group of Politecnico di Torino on the investigation, via numerical simulation, of innovative combustion systems meant to enhance air/fuel mixing. Results showed a significant improvement in the emissions vs fuel consumption trade off. Experimental testing is under way, stay tuned!
