Flow noise prediction on ICEV exhaust systems
Vehicular noise is recognized as one of the main sources of acoustic pollution in urban environment. Simulation has long been an effective means in the reduction of ICEV intake and exhaust orifice noise, two of the main contribution to acoustic emissions.
In this context, PWT partnered with CNH Industrial, Cornaglia Group and e3 – Engines Energy Environment to develop a 3D-CFD Computational Aero-Acoustic methodology for the qualitative and quantitative assessment of flow noise generation in complex engine exhaust systems. This methodology proved to be a valuable tool for the predictive assessment of exhaust system acoustic performance.
